One system, a lot of moving parts
Your HVAC system is more than the box outside. It's the condenser or heat pump, the furnace or air handler tucked in a closet or attic, the refrigerant lines between them, the ducts that carry air to every room, and the thermostat that tells the whole thing what to do. When one piece is off, you feel it everywhere: a back bedroom that never cools, a furnace that smells dusty every fall, a power bill that creeps up each summer.
Sky Clean Air works on all of it, for homes and businesses from San Ysidro up to Fallbrook, and now across Orange County from San Clemente to Brea.
Which service do you need?
Most people land here with a specific problem. Here's the quick way to sort it out:
- Something's wrong right now. Warm air from the vents, a system that won't start, a new rattle or a breaker that keeps tripping. Start with HVAC repair. If it can't wait, read our page on urgent HVAC service and call.
- It works, but it's tired. If your system is around 15 years old, needs a repair every season, or never quite keeps up on hot afternoons, it's worth weighing HVAC replacement against another fix. We'll give you both numbers.
- You're adding or upgrading. A home that never had central air, an addition, or a switch to a heat pump calls for a properly sized HVAC installation.
- It's running fine and you'd like to keep it that way. A yearly HVAC tune-up catches the small stuff, like a weak capacitor or a clogged drain line, before it turns into a July breakdown.
Not sure which bucket you're in? That's normal. Describe what the system is doing when you call and we'll point you in the right direction.
Why San Diego and OC systems wear the way they do
Our weather looks easy on paper, but the equipment sees plenty. Salt air eats at outdoor coils in Point Loma, Ocean Beach and Dana Point. Inland, in El Cajon, Santee, Escondido or Lake Forest, systems run hard for long stretches in late summer. Santa Ana winds and wildfire smoke load up filters in a few days. And in a lot of older Clairemont and North Park homes, and in the 1970s–90s tracts across south Orange County, the air handler and ducts sit in an attic that bakes all afternoon.
None of that means your system is doomed. It does mean cleaning, sizing and duct condition matter more here than people expect.
Why homeowners call Sky Clean Air
We started in 2018 with one rented van and duct-cleaning equipment. Today we run nearly 15 vehicles and see thousands of homes a year, and many of our HVAC customers first met us through air duct cleaning or dryer vent work. On those visits our techs look over the whole system, and if something is getting old or failing, we tell you plainly. If it doesn't need replacing, we say that too.
- California contractor license #1036543, licensed and insured, with EPA-certified technicians
- 5-star ratings on Google and Yelp, with roughly 1,000 reviews between them
- Free estimates and a written, upfront price before any work begins
- Financing options on larger projects
- Same-day or next-day appointments are often available

HVAC Systems: Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between HVAC repair and HVAC replacement?
A repair fixes a specific failed part, such as a capacitor, motor, control board or leak, and keeps your current system running. A replacement swaps out the major equipment. When a system is older and the repair is expensive, we'll show you both options side by side so you can decide.
Do you work on both heating and cooling?
Yes. We service air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, ductwork and thermostats, for both homes and commercial properties.
Which areas do you cover?
All of San Diego County, from San Ysidro to Fallbrook, and Orange County from San Clemente to Brea.
How much does HVAC work cost?
It depends on the system, the problem and your home, so we don't quote blind. Estimates are free, and you'll get a written price before we start anything.
What are your hours?
Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday, 8am to 3pm. Call and we'll find the soonest opening, which is often the same day or the next.
Are you open 24/7?
No. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday, 8am to 3pm. During those hours, we prioritize urgent calls and get you in the same day whenever the schedule allows.
How fast can you get here?
It depends on the day's schedule and your location. We don't quote a fixed response time, but we'll give you an honest estimate when you call, and same-day visits are often possible.
Can't you just install the same size unit I have now?
We can, but we'd rather confirm it's right first. Plenty of older systems were oversized to begin with, and homes change over the years with new windows, insulation or additions. A load calculation tells us what your home needs today.
How long does an HVAC installation take?
A straightforward swap is often done in a day or two. Adding ducts, changing system types or moving equipment to a new location takes longer. You'll get a timeline with your estimate.
How much does an HVAC repair cost?
It depends entirely on what's wrong. A failed capacitor and a failed compressor are very different jobs. Our tech will diagnose the problem and give you a written price before any repair work starts.
Can you come out today?
Often, yes. Same-day and next-day appointments are frequently available, but it depends on the schedule and your location. Call and we'll give you the soonest opening.
My system is 15 years old. Do I have to replace it?
No. Fifteen years is a good time to start planning, not a deadline. If it's running well, keeping the house comfortable and not costing you in repairs, a tune-up and regular care may keep it going for a while.
Can I replace just the outdoor unit?
Sometimes, but indoor and outdoor components are designed to work as a matched pair. Mixing a new outdoor unit with an old indoor coil can hurt efficiency and reliability. We'll explain what applies to your specific system.
What's included in the $50 basic tune-up?
It covers a standard check and cleaning of your system's main components. Current details and terms are listed on our specials page, and we're happy to explain exactly what's covered when you call.
How often should I get an HVAC tune-up?
Once a year is a good baseline for most homes. If you have pets, live near the coast, or run the system hard in an inland area, you may benefit from checking the filter more often in between.
